I have very little and fine hair, cut in layers above my shoulder, and its straight on top and wavy in the ends. I naturally have no volume at all, and the cut helps a lot to give me some volume, along with volumizing shampoo and conditioner, but that still isn´t enough when I want to give my hair a nicer volumized and styled look. This product gives me the perfect volumizing tousled look effortlessly, and also enhances my waves. I just spray some of it to my dry hair, and scrunch it a little. I usually don´t have the time to blow dry my hair, and this just styles it so quickly and doesn´t way it down, which is critical for me. It has a fragrance, but it isn´t too strong, and I personally like it. And, just for the record, I´m not blonde, I´m a brunette with very discrete caramel highlights that barely don´t show. So, though the product was intended for blondes I decided to give it a try based on excellent reviews that I´ve read, and I´m very happy with it.
Pros:lightweight, low price, easy to use, gives the perfect tousled look Cons:none
Okay, So I always have this dream. In my dream, I have this hair that is long, flowing, and curly, but without a hint of volume. In fact, you might even call it a bit flat. But I love it! Oh, to have such smooth locks! Which is why, in a sea of volumizers and bodifiers, I was delighted, one day, to find this at the drugstore, DownPlay, a volume *reducer*. I thought my time had come.
I have very curly, very thick, very I-shall-do-what-I-please hair. It is full of volume. If I could sell the volume that I possess as an elixir, I'd probably be rich. So, seeing as to how this was a fairly generous 5 fl. oz, not some laughable 3 oz. serum, I was even more eager to try it out. This one might just work.
I took it home, and shortly after used it. After washing my hair, conditioning it, and wrapping it in a towel, I then put some of this in it. Then I followed up with whatever else I was using to style it with. After all, It was part of a system, and while I wasn't going to be brand loyal, I wasn't going to rely on just the oneproduct alone to do the the job.
Well, that didn't exactly work. So, the next day, I thought I'd try washing, conditioning, using the styling aid, and THEN putting this stuff in. Hm, that didn't seem to work either, kind worked *less*.
Okay. Lets, try wash, condition, DownPlay, styling aid, DownPlay? Surely using the good old sandwich technique would work. No? Alright.
Day...four. Wash. Condition. Wrap hair with Downplay IN IT! Styling aid. Hair still poofs out by noon.
Day five. Yada yada yada. DownPlay. Downplay and styling aid mixed together. Downplay.
That seemed to haved worked a bit better than the other times, but now I've run out of styling aid and... DownPlay. I don't think I want to try it again.
I think I determined that DownPlay was some kind of strange alien gelified water hybrid, which, in theory would work (keep hair wet all day, no volume!), but doesn't really (wet hair, as it dries, just poofs up :() There are much better products out there, I'm sure.
Pros:Well, that was fun.
Cons:Doesn't really work.
This stuff really makes my hair feel soft and look shiny, not greasy. It also tames the frizzies a little. But not worth the 5-6 bucks I paid. If on sale, yes I'd buy it again.
I LUV this stuff. I used it about 3 times (over the course of the week) when someone said to me one day she had been looking at my hair & it just looked different & shinier. My shade is probably more closer to Chestunt/Espresso but I got it in Amber/Maple to see if I could lighten it & it has worked.
Pros:makes hair shinnier, can lighten or darken hair, makes hair feel silky/smooth Cons:kind of a drag to leave it in hair 3 min everytime you use it
I was really excited to finally get to use this product, I have always wanted that shiny beautiful hair. Overall I was really pleased with the results; it did add a nice shine to my hair, but I would not use it as an everday shampoo because it tends to build up. Used every other day it works great!
This is one of my holy grail anti-color fade conditioners. I bought it before I dyed my hair for extra moisturizing. But it definitely helps keep my color vibrant and shiny.
hey all. i have dry hair, i have been dying and belaching it for years and years. the past year, my hair has become rather difficult to manage and it has lost its luster and shine. i think i have spent close to 500.00 on trying out all kinds of products to make my hair shiny, soft, and managable. I came across this one about 5 months ago. man! this has seriously turned my hair around! it's even softer than before! not only does it make it shiny and soft, but i can run my hands through anytime!i highly reccomend this product! just give it a try! youll see what Im talking about! :)
Pros:does a complete change around for your hair! smells good and doesnt weigh down or make your hair greasy at all Cons:How small the bottle is
I used the regular version of this since my hair is wavy/curly and not super curly nor is it fine. I HATED this shampoo so much. I cannot tell you how much I hated this. I hated the way it felt going onto my hair. It was too thick. It didn even do anything. My hair frizzed right back up. Because of this experience, I hesitate to try the frizz ease hair serum.
Pros:None Cons:Too heavy for my hair, plus if you are CG, this has bad cones.
I have shoulder length mainly fine frizzy, frizzy hair with coarse strands running through it. The second there is a hint of humidity in the air my hair is a frizzy mass of yuck. Over the years I have spent way too much money buying every single product that promised to fight frizz (including other Frizz Ease products) and nothing has ever come even remotely close to doing what this product does for my hair. For the very first time, I am able to let my hair air dry and it looks gorgeous. I divide my hair into 3 sections after gently removing (squeeze, don't rub with a towel) excess water after showering and I apply one pump of serum to each section. I rake it through very thoroughly with my fingers and then apply a Fekkai curl enhancing cream and that is it. I have spent years blow drying, chemically straightening, and flat ironing and I have finally found my miracle product. I have shiny but not wet-looking, loopy curls for the very first time in my life. I no longer dread going outside on humid days and I no longer spend hours with hot hair appliances. The curls even last overnight if I don't want to shampoo everyday. I love this serum!
Pros:Eliminates frizz, easy to apply, pump easily locks for travel. Cons:If you apply too much, you will look like an oil can spilled over your head!
this product is my new love! it makes my hair shiney and i swear it feels softer and smoother! the smell isn't bad and you only need to use a tiny amount for your entire head. i would recommend this to anyone with brunette hair; shine shock lives up to the hype around the john frieda color-specific lines!
Pros:price, shine, smoothed hair, don't need to use a lot Cons:i suppose if you used too much it may make hair greasy
This is great for using after you have colored your hair. My hair looked so shiny and frizz free. This product smells good too and protects your hair while heat styling.
Pros:Great for blonde hair and make hair look healthy after coloring. Cons:none
I purchased this hair glaze hoping it would deepen my color and add shine until my next color. Promises to reawaken lackluster hair witha shot of rich color, satiny texture and muli-demensional shine.
The glaze is pretty easy to apply. During your shower you shampoo and condition as usual. Then apply the glaze and leave on for a total of three minutes. Be careful not to get the glaze on your shower as it can stain.
I noticed that my hair's color was richer and there was a slight difference in the shine and my husband said my hair had a nice smell to it.
As far as complaints,it really weighed down may hair and made it a little oily. The product does stain your showers and the cap was a little difficult to screw back on.
I wouldn't use this again because of the way it made my hair feel. I think this is a good product for anyone with dry hair. Definitely not recommend for those with thin oily hair.
I love this product! I actually use it everyday! lol! I put it on after I shower. You're suposed to wring out your hair then put it on then let air dry. I however put my turbie towel on after I apply the product. It still works great for me. It makes my unruly curly hair a lot more manageable. I will never forget how the first time I used it I was in shock by how great my hair felt! I joked with Hubby that it felt lik e" normal peple's hair". This is a A good item. It can be pricey depending where you buy it, however it's worth every penny!
Pros:makes curly hair shine and works well on curly or straight styles Cons:the pump makes it hard to get it all out. And if you're paying 8 bucks for less than 2 oz then it all better come out of the bottle! lol!
I think this is brand new....you spray it on dry hair, similar to TIGI's Bead Head Headbanger spray wax..anyway, I have a short, choppy, deliberatly messy style to my hair and this stuff works pretty good, seperates the hair and adds alot of texture. It's kind of like a cross between a hairspray and a styling wax. I'd definately buy it again!
Pros:easy use spray, not too sticky, stiff or greasy Cons:none yet
I got this on the clearance isle and it was around a dollar, wow! I usually can't use these types of products because they make my fine, slightly curley hair look greasey, but this one is great. I do have to be carefule not to apply too much, but if i follow the directions and use apprx a dime amount on "soaking wet' hair then it rocks! After i have finished styling i use his other treatment for dry hair just on my ends and low and behold the split ends all but disappear! Now that i have found them i hope he doesn't stop making them.
this product makes your hair sooo soft and doesnt way down your hair or make it greasy at all(unless you use way too much)! You just put it in your hair when its wet (not too much!) and then brush it with a flat brush so it spreads evenly. When you dry it..TADA...no more frizz!!!!!!! It also blocks humidity (which right when i walk outside in the summer POOF my hair is a mess) it is a great product!
Pros:light formula is not greasy, great smell, blocks frizz, blocks flyaways, blocks humidity, adds shine, easy to use Cons:it is a little pricey for a defrizzer but it is the best out there!, it can get greasy if you use way too much..so use the right amount!
I adore this. It just came out, so it's not surprising that there haven't been any prior reviews. Smells absolutely wonderful and though it is a twice weekly deep conditioner, the consistency is very light, almost whipped. Goes on easily and smooth and silkens very frizzy or overly dry hair. Wow! How did I live without this for so long? Awesome new product from JF, I'm sure this will gather quite a following!
Pros:Great smelling, wonderful hair softener and smoother. Good de-frizzer. Cons:None at all.
